  Materials:

  • Universal Yarn Deluxe, Worsted medium (worsted) Weight wool yarn ( 3 1/2 oz/ 220 yds/ 100g per han): 4 [4, 5, 5, 6, 7] hanks #33677 cobat
  • Size 1/9/5.5mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
  • Tapestry needle
  • Sewing needle
  • Sewing thread
  • 2-inch shank button
  • Hok-and-eye fastener
  • Stitch marker

Gauge:

7 pattern sc= 4″; 15 patern rows = 4″

Pattern Notes

Chan 2 at beginning of row or round counts as first half double crochet unless otherwise stated.

Chain-3 at beginning of row or round counts as first doube crochet unless otherwise stated.

Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.

Special Stitch:

Cable: Sk next st, fpdc around next st, fpdc around st just sk.

Body

Ribbing

Row 1: Ch 126 [ 135, 153, 168, 183, 198], dc in 4th ch from hook (first 3 chs count as first dc) and in each ch across, turn. (124 [ 133, 151, 166, 181, 196] dc)

Row 2 (RS): Ch 2, cable, [ bpdc around next st, cable] across, ending with hdc in last st, turn.

Row 4: Ch 2, cable, [bpdc around each of next 2 sts, cable] across, ending with hdc in last st, turn.

Row 5: Ch 2, bpdc around each of next 2 sts, [fpdc around next st, 2 fpdc around next st, bpdc around each of next 2sts] across, ending with hdc in last st, turn.

Row 6: Ch 2, 5 fpdc around next 2 sts, [sk next st, bpdc around next st, sk next st, 5 fpdc around next 2 sts] across, ending with hdc in last st. Fasten off.

Top

Row 1: With RS facing, working in starting ch on opposite side of row 1 of Ribbing, join with sc in first ch, ch 2, sk next 2 [ 1, 1, 2, 1, 2] chs, sc in next ch, [ch 2, sk next ch, sc in next ch] across, turn. (62, [ 67, 76, 83, 91, 98] sc)

Rows 2-52 [ 2-52, 2-52, 2-60, 2-60, 2-68]: Ch 1, sc in first st, [ ch 2, sk next ch sp, sc in next st] across for pattern. turn.

Right Front

Row 1: Ch 1, sc in first st, [ch 2, sk next ch sp, sc in next st] 13 [ 14, 16, 17, 19, 21] times, leaving rem sts unworked, turn.

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in first st, work in pattern across, leaving last st unworked (neck edge), turn.

Row 3: Ch 1, work in pattern across, turn.

Rows 4-11 [ 4-11, 4-13, 4-13, 4-15, 4-15]: {rep rows 2 and 3 alternately] 4 [ 4, 5, 5, 6, 6] times.

Rows 12-18 [ 12-18, 14-21, 14-21, 16-21, 16-21]: Ch 1, sc in first st, work in pattern across, turn. At the end of last row, fasten off.

Back

Row 1: With RS facing, sk next 3 [ 4, 4, 5, 5, 5] sts from Right Front on last row of Top, join with sc in next st, work in pattern across next 27 [ 28, 33, 36, 40, 43] sts, leaving rem sts unworked, turn.

Rows 2-18 [ 2-18, 2-21, 2-21, 2-21, 2-21]: Ch 1, sc in first st, work in pattern across, turn. At end of last row, fasten off.

Left Front

Row 1: With RS facing, sk next 3 [4, 4, 5, 5, 5] sts from Back on last row of Top, join with sc in next st, work in pattern across next 13 [ 14, 16, 17, 19, 21] sts, turn.

Row 2: Sl st in first st and next ch-2 sp (neck edge), ch 1, sc in next st, work in pattern across, turn.

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in first st, work in pattern across, turn.

Rows 4-11 [ 4-11, 4-13, 4-13, 4-15, 4-15]: {Rep rows 2 and 3 alternatively] 4 [ 4, 5, 5, 6, 6] times

Row 12-18 [12-18, 14-21, 14-21, 16-21, 16-21]: Ch 1, sc in first st, work in pattern across, turn. At end of last row, fasten off.

Trim

Row 1: Working in ends of rows and  in sts, join to LEFT FRONT in last row of Ribbing, ch 3, evenly sp 237 [237, 237, 237, 243, 243] dc across to bottom of Right Front, turn.

Row 2: Ch 2, cable. [fpdc around next st, cable] across, ending with hdc in last st. Fasten off.

Armhole Trim

Rnd 1: With RS facing, join with sl st in any st at bottom of armhole, ch 3, evely sp 65 [ 83, 83, 86, 92, 92] dc around, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3.

Rnd 2: Ch 2, cable, [fpdc around next st, cable] around, join in 2nd ch of beg ch-2. Fasten off.

FINISHING

Using sewing needle and sewing thread, sew hook and eye fastener to WS of first rows of neck line shaping. Sew button to RS over left side of fastener.

French vanilla Winter Set

Size: Hat: Ladies’ average

Scarf: 9 1/2″ x 57″ Excluding fringe

Materials:

  • Knitting worsted weight yarn: 10 oz. cream
  • Size H/8 crochet hook
  • Size J/10 crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
  • 3″ cream pompon

Gauge:

15 sts = 4″ with larger hook in crossed dc pattern

Pattern Note

Do not join rnds unless otherwise stated; mark beg of each rnd with CC.

Pattern Stitch

Crossed dc pattern: * Sk next 2 successive unworked sts, dc in next st, ch 1, working in front of last dc made, dc in first of 2 sk sts, rep from * as indicated.

Scarf

Row 1: With larger hook, ch 36, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each rem ch across, turn. (35 sc)

Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc throughout), work in crossed dc pattern across to last st, dc in last st, ch 1, turn (35 sts)

Row 3: Sc in each dc and ch sp across, ending with sc in 3rd ch of beg ch-3, turn. (35 sc)

Rep Rows 2 & 3 until scarf measures 57″, ending with Row 3, fasten off at end of last row. Weave in loose ends.

Fringe

Fold 6″ length of yarn in half. Pull looped end through corner st at end of scarf; pull loose ends through lp. Pull to tighten. Rep in each st across both ends of scarf.

Hat

Rnd 1: With smaller hook, ch 2, 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook.

Rnd 2 & 3: Working in back  lps only throughout unless otherwise stated, 2 sc in each sc around. (32 sc at end of Rnd 3)

Rnds 4 & 5: Sc in each sc around. (32 sc)

Rnd 6: * Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep from *around (48 sc)

Rnd 7: *Sc in each of next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep from *around. (60 sc)

Rnds 8 & 9: Sc in each sc round.

Rnd 10: *Sc in each of next 4 sc, 2sc in next sc, rep from * around (72 sc)

Rnds 11-31: Sc in each sc around, join with a sl st in both lps of beg sc at end of Rnd 31.

Rnds 32 & 33: Ch 1, beg in same st as joining and working in both lps, sc in each sc around, join with a sl st in both lps of beg sc at end of Rnd 32, join with a sl st in front lp only of beg sc at end of Rnd 33.

Rnd 34: Ch 1, beg in same st as joining and working in front lps only, sc in each sc around to last sc, 2 sc in last sc, join with a sl st in both lps of beg sc. (73 sc)

Cuff

Rnd 35: With larger hook, working on both lps ofr rem of cuff, ch 3, work in crossed dc pattern around, join with a sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-3, ch 1, turn.

Rnd 36: Beg in same st as joining, sc in each dc and ch sp around, join with a sl st in beg sc, turn. (73 sc)

Rnds 37 – 40: Rep Rnds 35 and 36, ending Rnd 40 with ch 1 , turn.

Rnd 41: Sk first sc, sl st in each sc around, join in beg sl st, fasten off. Weave in loose ends.

Finishing

Turn up cuff of hat. Sew 3″ pompon to top of hat over Rnd 1.
